HOUSTON, Tex. – February 23, 2018 – The CEOs and founders of seven companies selected as Energy Innovation Pioneers will present at the CERAWeek by IHS Markit executive conference, March 5 – 9, 2018 at the Hilton Americas – Houston.
The Energy Innovation Pioneers program is held annually by business information provider IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO) in connection with CERAWeek. The program, now in its 13th year, identifies the most innovative new technologies and disruptive business models across the energy spectrum. Judging criteria has included creativity, feasibility of plan, scalability of technology and leadership team.
This year’s honorees range from hardware-based technologies specific to an energy domain—such as hydrocarbon detection, water analysis, micro-combined cooling heat and power and solar wafer manufacturing—to emerging digital platforms applicable that enhance cybersecurity, enable edge computing and improve customer choice.
During CERAWeek 2018, the Energy Innovation Pioneers will participate in one of two plenary sessions that explore their experience and insights in commercializing new technology:
- Wednesday, March 7 — 7:30‒8:40 am CST: Increasing resilience by leveraging technology to find new opportunities
- Thursday, March 8 — 7:30‒8:40 am CST: Harnessing innovation to cut costs & increase consumer choice
In addition, CERAWeek delegates are invited to hear from each chief executive in greater detail during the event’s Pioneer Showcase held in the Pods in the Innovation Agora.

These creative and dedicated problem-solvers represent a driving force that is shaping the new energy future.”
“As the energy industry and governments chart their paths toward a new energy future, technologies developed by this year’s class of Energy Innovation Pioneers will be important contributors,” said Carolyn Seto, director and program co-chair for IHS Markit. “These entrepreneurs embody the spirit of innovation driving the development of technologies that will transform how the industry produces, manages and distributes energy.”
This year’s program will once again include a Pioneer Showcase, where entrepreneurs will each give a 30-minute presentation about their company and technology, concurrent with the main conference agenda, and have the opportunity to talk with a wide range of companies.
“The Energy Innovation Pioneers program is now an established and important part of CERAWeek,” said James Rosenfield, IHS Markit senior vice president and co-chairman of CERAWeek. “Innovation and technology are central themes of CERAWeek, and these dedicated and creative pioneers help us see what tomorrow’s solutions will look like.”
